Overview
Furnace replacement in Los Angeles is a more nuanced decision than in colder climates, because the economics look different when a furnace runs only 30 to 60 days per year. A high-efficiency 96% AFUE furnace costs more upfront but saves on gas bills — however, the payback period in LA is longer than in Chicago or Denver because you simply use less gas. Do you pull permits for furnace installation?
Yes, always. Every furnace installation requires a City of LA (or county) permit and a final inspection. We handle all of this — it's included in our price.
How long does a furnace installation take?
Most residential installations are completed in one day — typically 4–7 hours. If ductwork modifications are needed, add a half to a full day.
Can I get a rebate on a new furnace in California?
Yes. SoCalGas offers up to $800 on qualifying high-efficiency gas furnaces. TECH Clean California offers additional incentives. We handle the rebate paperwork.
What brands do you install?
We install Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Rheem, Goodman, and American Standard. We'll match the right brand to your budget and ductwork.
Do you offer financing on furnace installation?
Yes. We offer financing through GreenSky with options including 12-month same-as-cash and 60-month fixed payment plans.
Will a new furnace work with my existing thermostat?
Usually yes, but older mercury thermostats or basic non-programmable thermostats don't take advantage of modern furnace features. We'll recommend a compatible smart thermostat if there's a benefit.
How do I know what size furnace I need?
We calculate your heating load using Manual J methodology — square footage, insulation levels, ceiling height, window area, and climate data. Don't let any contractor size your furnace by square footage alone.
Is a two-stage or variable-speed furnace worth it?
Two-stage and variable-speed furnaces run longer at lower capacity, which delivers more even temperatures, quieter operation, and better humidity control. In LA's mild climate, the payback period is longer than in cold-climate states. We'll give you an honest ROI comparison.
